Zepto is the first quick-commerce company to charge a platform fee of Rs. 2: Details are available here


<p>According to reports, Zepto is the first quick-commerce startup to charge Rs 2 for every order on their site. A certain group of users will be subject to the platform cost. Zepto’s rivals, Zomato-owned Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, now take a platform fee on meal delivery orders instead of charging a fee for grocery purchases.</p>

<p>A firm representative issued a statement saying, “We don’t think it’s possible to be successful by relying too much on shipping fees. We consider cost containment and fundamental operational efficiency to be lucrative. Zepto Pass is a prime illustration of how, despite significantly reduced delivery costs, we are on course to reach the EBITDA positive milestone.”</p>
<p>Zepto charges its users additional fees in addition to a platform cost. In some cases, the firm also levies a “late night handling fee” of Rs 15 for purchases submitted after 11 p.m.</p>
<p>In addition, Zepto’s sales increased by 1,339 percent in FY23 compared to the previous year, but the company’s losses also increased dramatically.</p>
<p>Zepto’s income has increased 14 times to Rs 2,024 crore in its second year of business after opening its first dark shop in Mumbai (from Rs 142.36 crore in FY22), but losses have increased by three times to Rs 1,272 crore from Rs 390 crore in FY22.</p>
<p>Established in July 2021, Zepto has declared its intention to go public within the following two to three years.</p>
