<p>Bollywood actor-director Vivek Vaswani, who has known Shah Rukh Khan since before he entered the business, recently reminisced about the tragic time he learned that his mother was very ill in the hospital and was going to die.</p>

<p>According to Vivek, the actor told him about his mother’s condition when SRK visited Vaswani in Mumbai sometime around 1990. “He told me straight out, ‘My mother is dying.’” He gave all he had. We then proceeded to sit down on Marine Drive. He informed me about the organ failure of his mother,” Vivek recounted.</p>
<p>He also said how, via a buddy who was a pilot, he used to get pricey medications for SRK’s mother in Mumbai and transport them to Delhi. But Vivek answered, “she died.”</p>
<p>The director also said that SRK’s preference for movies over television came from the death of his mother. He said that one day, after the loss of his mother, Shah Rukh arrived in Mumbai, saw Vivek, and declared his desire to work on movies.</p>
<p>“However, tumko film karni hi nahi thi bas TV karna tha,” I said. However, he said that his mother wanted him to be a celebrity and that’s why he wanted to shoot a movie right now,” Vivek recounted.</p>
<p>SRK has previously said in a number of interviews how his mother loved movies and hoped her son would follow in her footsteps. He had even spoken about how, when his mother was fighting for her life in the hospital, he had prayed for the first time in his life.</p>
<p>He also spoke about how, after hearing that a person doesn’t pass away when they see their loved ones’ suffering, SRK sat by his mother’s hospital bed and bemoaned how life had let him down and how he had to survive for her.</p>
